The love of Photography has been a passion of mine since I was a child. Playing with light and images to create stunning photographs is a goal I strive for whenever I pick up a camera.
I rely mainly on the natural surroundings and the manipulation of the camera controls to give me the impact and effect I want, and to trick the camera into thinking its light source is ‘wrong’ for its environment is an approach I use often and with joy, the effects being an ‘In your face’ blast of light and colour to show the subject as bold and beautiful.
On the few occasions that I use Photoshop, the rule goes out the window, and the effect is very obvious, making something else entirely.
I love Natural landscapes and macro work, and many an afternoon can find me up close and personal to a spider or raindrops, or wandering over this lovely island, never lost for inspiration, capturing the sense of time and history that is all around us.
I am happy with both film and digital, but love the option of instant view, and the capability of modern camera’s to allow the photographer greater control. I love the idea of Digital photographs being printed on old photography parchments and papers, which can absorb inks with subtle effects to tone and shade.
I have had various private commissions, which include weddings and animal portraits, and have also had work published in an American Photo journal, published in 2008 entitled Web of Memories.
